Foot Warts (Verruka Pedis)

Foot warts are skin growths that occur as a result of an infection caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They occur on the soles of the feet or under the toes. Certain types of HPV can cause various lesions on the skin, and foot warts are one of these lesions. Foot warts are usually harmless, but sometimes they can be painful and spread.

Causes
HPV Infection:
Foot warts are often triggered by certain types of HPV. This virus infects cells within the skin and leads to the formation of warts.
Weak Immune System: A weak immune system can reduce resistance to HPV infections and increase the occurrence of warts.
Humid Environments: Humid and hot environments such as swimming pools and gyms can facilitate the formation of foot warts.
Personal Contact: Foot warts can be transmitted by direct contact with infected skin.

Symptoms:
Small Skin Growths:
Small, hard and raised skin growths on the soles of the feet or under the toes.
Wart Seed:
Small black dots in the centre of foot warts are known as wart nuclei.
Pain or Discomfort:
Pressing or rubbing on the warts can cause pain.
Multiplication:
The number and size of warts may increase over time.

Non-Surgical Treatment Methods:
Topical Treatments:
Over-the-counter or prescription medicines can be used by applying them over the warts.
Cryotherapy (Ice Treatment):
The wart can be removed by freezing with liquid nitrogen.
Electrocautery:
The wart is removed using electric current.
Acid Treatment:
The wart can be removed by applying acid.
Laser Treatment:
Destruction of the wart using laser light.

Surgical Treatment Methods:
Surgical Extraction:

Large or resistant warts may require surgical intervention.
Cauterisation:
Burning the wart using electric current or other energy sources.
Laser Ablation:
Removal of the wart using laser light.
Cryosurgery:
Freezing and subsequent removal of the wart using nitrogen gas.
